[CFofA] He came to Westmoreland, Kan., in 1860; about that time, he built
the first house in Westmoreland, a log one, and a sawmill on Rock Creek
where most of the lumber was sawed for the early buildings. He early
owned the land on which Westmoreland was built. He was postmaster for
some years and (1860-69) County Surveyor. In 1869, he sold his sawmill
and moved to Bakersfield, Calif.; he still l. in Calif. in 1899. Issue:
