THE WESTMORELAND RECORDER 1 May 1924
Reason Dole Goddard was born in Whetzel [sic] county, Virginia, September
30, 1842 and died April 23, 1924, aged 81 years, 6 months and 23 days.
At the age of 19 he volunteered his services to his country as a soldier
and served 3 years in Company B, 43rd Regiment of Indiana.
On August 3, 1865 he was united in marriage to Eliza Ann Anderson. To
this union were born seven children, all of whom are living except Cora
Alice, who died in infancy; Mary E. Jenkins of Belvue; Harriet J.
Pressler of Westmoreland; John H. Goddard of Tribbey, Oklahoma; Rowin R.
Goddard, James D. Goddard and Marguerite L. Hamilton of Louisville.
The family lived in Indiana until the year of 1883, when they moved to
Pottawatomie county, Kansas, where they have lived ever since. He has
been a member of the Baptist church in Onaga since 1899. He leaves to
mourn his death besides the above named children, two brothers, J. M.
Goddard of Louisville; Grant Goddard of Florida; and three sisters, Mrs.
Mary Bishop, Mrs. Sarah Beemis, and Mrs. Martha Bishop of Indiana;
fifteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, besides a host of
other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Methodist
church in Louisville, conducted by Rev. Lee Darnell of Westmoreland.
Interment was made in the Louisville cemetery.

Elsia [sic] Ann Anderson was born in Putnam county Indiana, July 7, 1845
and died March 28, 1924, aged 78 years, 8 months and 21 days.
On August 3, 1865 she was united in marriage to Reason Dole Goddard. To
this union were born seven children, all of whom are living except Cora
Alice, who died in infancy. These living are Mary Ellen Jenkins of
Belvue; Hariet Jane Pressler of Westmoreland; John Goddard of Tribby,
Oklahoma; Rowin R. Goddard, James D. Goddard and Marguerite L. Hamilton o
f Louisville.
The family lived in Indiana until the year of 1883, when they moved t o
Pottawatomie county, Kansas where they have lived ever since . She leaves
to mourn her death besides the above named children, her husband, who is
bedfast; one sister, Mrs. Hariet Jones, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri;
one half sister, Mrs. Gene Campbell, of Topeka. She is also survived by
twelve grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
Her death was caused by accidently falling and breaking her hip, after
which she contracted pneumonia. She has been a member of the Baptist
church at Onaga since 1899, and has been a constant believer and a
patient sufferer. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church at
Lousville, conducted by Rev. Lee Darnell of Westmoreland. Interment was
made in the Louisville cemetery.
